WEST END CAST ANNOUNCEMENT
Aisha Jawando, who has been with the Company since its world premiere in Spring 2018, steps up to play the title role in TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL from 23 September 2019. Having originally played Tina’s sister Alline Bullock, Jawando has subsequently performed the iconic role of Tina at certain performances.

Aisha Jawando said: “I have loved being part of this show from the very beginning, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play this exceptional role. Tina Turner is such an inspirational woman and I hope that I continue to make her proud.”

We are delighted to announce that TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL has been nominated for 3 awards at the Inaugural Black British Theatre Awards! The BBTA’s were created to amplify the positivity of talent and creativity made by Black Britons in British Theatre. Tony Gayle, Associate Sound Designer on Tina, will also receive the Light and Sound recognition award during the ceremony.

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE WELCOMES TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL TO NYC
On Wednesday, September 11th, SAKS welcomed TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL to NYC at an exclusive, invite-only event at their fashionable Live at L’Chalet venue. Guests, including sales partners and members of the media, enjoyed the opportunity to meet the cast of TINA in advance of their first preview in October.

SAKS’ SVP of Regional Stores welcomed the crowd followed by remarks from Tali Pelman (Executive Producer), Katori Hall (Book) and Phyllida Lloyd (Director).

The evening culminated with a special acoustic version of Private Dancer performed by Tina leading lady, Adrienne Warren.
